Bank OCBC NISP’s responsibility to the community, as well as its vision of becoming a bank that is recognized for its caring attitude, is put into action through policies and guidelines on corporate social responsibility which are set forth in the Bank’s Policy Guidelines and its Environmental and Community Policy as stipulated by the Management of Bank OCBC NISP.

Bank OCBC NISP has steadfastly demonstrated its commitment to corporate Social Responsibility through a wide range of charitable actions, which can be divided into two categories :

1. Education
   One of Bank OCBC NISP’s routine programs in the educational sector is the granting of scholarship in collaboration with the Salemba Empat (KSE) Foundation. In this program, Bank OCBC NISP provides stipends to cover the living costs and the expenses involved in writing a thesis for less fortunate students at various state universities in cities where Bank OCBC NISP operates, such as the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, Bogor Institute of Agriculture in Bogor, Mulawarman University in Samarinda, Udayana University in Bali, Sam Ratulangi University in Manado, Andalas University in Padang and the Sepuluh November Technology Institute in Surabaya. Recepients are chosen through a strict selection process, one element of which in an interview by KSE and Bank OCBC NISP.
   
   Since 1999 Bank OCBC NISP has provided scholarship to employees who wish to pursue higher-level studies and has also awarded scholarships to the high-achieving children of bank employees.
   
   Bank OCBC NISP paid its contribution to social education by holding “One Day workshop for students” with core message “Introduction to Banking Industry”
   
    
2. Other Charitable Activities
   Bank OCBC NISP also active in various other social activities, including the following:
   1. Health
      Bank OCBC NISP offices in a number of cities, including Surabaya, Palembang, Bandung, Sukabumi, Malang, Bali and Jakarta, organize routine blood donor drives every three months. Both customers and employees of Bank OCBC NISP take part. Mass circumcision is another health-related activity that gets an enthusiastic response from the public.
       
   2. Environmental Program
      Bank OCBC NISP also participate in environmental conservation program through the “Clean Cikapundung River Movement”. This program started in 2004 with the aim of revitalizing the Cikapundung River as one of the landmarks of the city of Bandung, from which Bank OCBC NISP originated and evolved.
       
   3. Community
      The Bank organizer a wide range of charitable activities in the communities in which it operates, including participation in religious activities, national holidays and so on. These activities include assistance for orphanages and homes for the elderly, assistance for houses of worship religious activities including breaking the fast during Ramadhan, Christmas, donations for Idul Adha, and so on. These activities take place in various cities including Malang, Jakarta, Bogor, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin etc.
       
   4. Sports and Arts Bank OCBC NISP is well-known for its participation in various sporting activities, such as softball, baseball and other sports. Bank OCBC NISP not only provides support but also has its own Softball and Baseball teams that have notched up a string of victories in several tournaments.
       
   5. Natural Disaster Bank OCBC NISP places great concern on aid and reconstruction efforts following the many natural disaster that occur in Indonesia. When the Tsunami which occurred in 2004 in Banda Aceh, through the cooperation with the University of Indonesia, Bank OCBC NISP provided donated 50 computer sets and a car to Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh. Bank OCBC NISP also provided assistance for victims disaster which occurred in Central Java by helping the contraction of three temporary schools. In addition when Pangandaran and the surrounding areas were hit by an earthquake and tsunami, Bank OCBC NISP helped the victims by construction schools, providing books and school uniforms as well as scholarships for students at five senior high schools in Ciamis district. Bank OCBC NISP also provided aid in the form of food, medicines and shelter for people affected by the floods and landslides in several cities in Indonesia.

Bank OCBC NISP will continue to devote considerable resource to its corporate social responsibility programs in the years to come in an integrated and sustainable manner, and by focusing on the needs and circumstances of community in which Bank OCBC NISP operates.
