Bank OCBC NISP’s Loans Grew 31%
2011 Financial Performance (Audited)
With the completion of merger of Bank OCBC NISP and Bank OCBC Indonesia in the beginning of 2011, synergy built from the integration of businesses and operations of the two banks has boosted Bank OCBC NISP’s financial performance, yielding better and stronger growth. This is clearly seen in the growth recorded for loans (gross), which reached 31% to Rp. 41 trillion. Bank OCBC NISP’s commitment in implementing intermediation duties is reflected in the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) at year-end 2011 of 87%, well above the industry’s average of 81%*).
Bank OCBC NISP recorded pre-tax profit of Rp. 1.0 trillion for 2011 or higher by 78% compared to Rp. 567 billion over the same period in the previous year. Profit growth is boosted by an increase in net interest income of 13% from about Rp. 2.0 trillion (in 2010) to Rp. 2.3 trillion for the year 2011. At the same time, non-interest income also rose, by 16% to reach Rp. 651 billion relative to Rp. 563 billion for the corresponding period of last year.
High Quality of Loans
Bank OCBC NISP constantly promotes efforts to sustain loan quality, among others by diversification of portfolio in terms of business sector, size/exposure, currency and tenor. With respect to credit use, the composition of loan portfolio is as follows: working capital 41%, investment 34%, and consumer 25%. Loan distribution is relatively uniform across several business sectors, consisting of: industrial sector 26%, trading 21% and services 20%. With accurate risk management strategies, Bank OCBC NISP succeeded in improving the quality of loans while at the same time lowering NPL (net) to 0.59% at year-end 2011 compared to 0.94% at year-end 2010.
Improved Third Party Funds Structure
Customers’ trust in Bank OCBC NISP remains high, as evident in the bank’s overall third party funds, which grew by 20% to Rp. 47 trillion as at December 31, 2011 compared to Rp. 39 trillion as at December 31, 2010. At the end of 2011, third party funds in the form of current accounts and savings consistently improved to 60% of the total. This was backed by growth in current accounts and savings of 36% and 24% consecutively. In comparison, current accounts and savings accounted for 56% of total third party funds accumulated at the end of 2010.
