Encouraging Indonesian People to #MoveForward, Bank OCBC NISP Provides Social Assistance to Those Affected by COVID-19

  • Bank OCBC NISP along with its employees collect and distribute social assistance in the form of more than 1,300 PPE and 13,000 food packages worth up to Rp3.4 Billion
  • Bank OCBC NISP also continues to present financial education and mental health forums virtually

 

Jakarta, June 6th, 2020 – With the spirit of Tidak Ada Yang Tidak Bisa/No Such Thing as Can't (#TAYTB), Bank OCBC NISP continues to inspire and invite the Indonesian people to transform COVID-19’s challenges and fears into an opportunity to grow and #MoveForward. This commitment to #NyalakanIndonesia was manifested through a social assistance program for community groups who got affected by COVID-19 in the form of PPE and basic food packages, also educational programs to help them managing their financial and mental health virtually through the #TAYTBLiveTalks series of event


"In accordance with the latest vision of Bank OCBC NISP which is ‘To be the trusted partner to enrich quality of life’, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bank OCBC NISP along with its employees worked hand in hand to provide social assistance in the form of PPE for #PahlawanMedis (medical workers), basic food packages for community around the Bank’s offices and supporting employees of Bank OCBC NISP who got financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Ka Jit, Bank OCBC NISP's Head of Strategy and Innovation.

 

This social assistance is distributed directly by Bank’s employees and through collaboration with customers and Bank partners—e-Commerce applications for farmers, TaniHub and Hope Indonesia Foundation—. "In providing and distributing this social assistance, Bank OCBC NISP collaborates with our customers, the e-Commerce platform providers and foundations to provide PPE and basic-food. We also greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of our employees in making donations and even distributing most of the social assistance directly to the community. We hope that our collaboration in distributing PPEs and basic food packages, will not only alleviate some of the burden of medical personnel and the community, but also contribute positively in driving the economy," added Ka Jit.

 

Through the participation of corporate funds and donation from Bank’s employees, Bank OCBC NISP successfully donated up to Rp3,4 Billion. This donation has been distributed to medical personnels and the people who got affected by COVID-19 in the form of:

  • 1,345 PPEs for #PahlawanMedis in 16 hospitals/health clinic in 11 cities, provided and distributed by Bank’s partners/customers and Hope Indonesia Foundation.
  • 11,620 basic food packages for the surrounding community in more than 100 branch offices throughout Indonesia, provided by Bank’s customers who engaged in food business and TaniHub applications. The distribution was also carried out by TaniHub and Bank OCBC NISP employees.
  • 1,851 basic food packages for Bank’s supporting workers in all branch offices, provided by Bank’s customers engaged in food business. The distribution was fully managed by Bank OCBC NISP’s employees.

 

Not only supports in the form of assistance, during the pandemic that has lasted for about 3 months, Bank OCBC NISP also actively invites people to manifest their time during #StayAtHome to enrich their knowledge and utilize digital technology to manage their finance as well as their mental health. On April 4th and 5th, 2020, Bank OCBC NISP successfully carried out the TAYTB Live Stream Fest and presenting 24 educational classes. Furthermore, Bank OCBC NISP has presented 16 #TAYTBLiveTalks education forum sessions regularly on its Instagram account @ocbc_nisp since April 1, 2020.

"Following the government's recommendation to #StayAtHome, people can still improve their knowledge and skills by seeking new insights, including financial management and ways to maintain their mental health. Starting this June, TAYTBLiveTalks would not only focus on discussing financial management, but also presenting various topics regarding mental health. We expect that through #TAYTBLiveTalks, we are able to help and encourage the community to keep moving forward, responding to current conditions positively, continue to enrich their knowledge and maintain good health—both physical and mental—," Ka Jit added.
